On June 26–27, 2025, we participated in the 10th anniversary general meeting of the Trailer Industrie Verband (TiV) in Dresden 🌍.
Since its inception, TiV has grown from 12 founding companies to 37 companies from 10 countries, becoming a key European platform for knowledge exchange and cooperation in the trailer industry. This year’s meeting focused primarily on the future of the sector, sustainable development, and an analysis of the latest update to the VDI 2700 standard on load securing. One of the most interesting topics was the discussion “Trailer versus bus.”
🔋Fraunhofer IWU research has shown that a passenger car + trailer combination (e.g., VW Passat) emits approximately 6.8 t CO₂eq per year, while the popular Mercedes Sprinter emits as much as 9.7 t CO₂eq – a difference of nearly 30% in favor of the trailer.
✅Our response to climate challenges is STEELPRESS components designed in accordance with the Long Life Product philosophy. Thanks to lighter yet more durable materials, we are able to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the entire trailer 🌍.
🚛During the meeting, we also discussed in detail the new VDI 2700 guidelines (points 8.1 and 8.2) concerning the securing of cars on tow trucks and trailers: new guidelines for securing straps, securing points and wheel chocks have been introduced, as well as the obligation to certify the assembly – the transported load together with the complete loading area, also including previously sold trailers and all vehicles used in Germany.
Our UP-01 and UP-02 floor brackets can be used for trailers in accordance with VDI 2700 requirements ✅.
Thank you, TiV, for the inspiring discussions and an exceptional 10th edition in Dresden!
